Thank you so much for agreeing to be a part of our special day. We chose each of you because you form a very important part of the community and family that we cherish. We hope our marriage will be the beautiful beginning of a new network of love, friendship, and hope. We also will need all of you to make this day happen as many of our elements are "DIY.", but we also want to make sure that the wedding weekend and any proceeding events are fun and as painless as possible for you. That being said, we want to say upfront that we want you to spend as little money on outfits, trips, and time spent helping us and making our dream day come true..
Hello, Wedding Party
Outfits for the wedding
For the wedding we’re asking everyone to dress in monochrome. Meaning, pick a color and try your best to wear that color head to toe. It's ok to have a few different shades or even a bit of pattern as long as it mostly looks like that one color. You can wear any silhouette you want, dresses, top and pants, a skirt and blouse, or a colorful suit/sport jacket and matching pants (pants can be a lighter or darker shade than the jacket) and should be at least dressy-casual/or semi-formal but can be as formal as you want, we want your outfit to reflect your personal style. If you plan on wearing a traditional button down shirt it can be white or a neutral tone, and we will provide a floral print tie that matches with the color you have chosen. The only colors off limits are white and deep berry purple. Show us the full outfit when you have it figured out so that we a) know how many people will be wearing each color and can encourage others to wear colors that have not been chosen b) ensure the outfit is in fact mostly monochrome. There's no limit to your creativity here, we encourage you to be a bit more whimsical and ‘extra’ than you might normally be. We made a pinterest board to help inspire you but don’t feel limited to the examples shown. We also encourage you to wear things you already own or go to your favorite thrift store. We want you all to enjoy the weekend without spending tons of money to be there, your presence and comfort are the most important to us.
Additionally, the dance party portion of the reception is disco themed. Feel free to bring a fun change of 70s disco clothes for that! NO AFRO WIGS
If you have any questions or need some help finding a particular piece of your outfit please don't hesitate to reach out to Cal at 571 314 1232.
The "Barty"
We will be having a joint "bachelor/bachelorette" party because we want to party together and want to avoid or reject most of the gendered traditions involved in a wedding. The Barty will be held at an Air B n B on the Oregon cost and will be and murder mystery party one day and a bunch of silly themed games the next. We are asking for $50 for each adult if you plan on coming, e.x. if you bring you and your partner it would be $100 total between the two of you. this will help us pay for one day at the Air b n b and we will cover the other day as well as food, and drink for the weekend. We also encourage you to bring your favorite bottle of alcohol or joints to add to the festivities.
Things we need help with
Outdoor Landscape Work
As the wedding will be held on the Farm there is a lot of prep work that must be done to turn the space into a camp site and wedding venue for that weekend. We need folks who are local and willing to help clear away brush and tree limbs with spring and summer. Doing the brunt of the work this summer will help ensure that we have less overgrown wildwood to cut back next summer.
Additionally we will be growing many of the flowers that will be used in arrangements and decor at our house and at the farm. some that will be dried will be grown this summer and some will be grown next summer with the intention of being fresh cut flowers. if you want to show off your green thumb and help us grow these blooms please contact Cal.
Food Related Help
The main entrée for the wedding reception dinner is a spit roasted pig that will be used to make Pulled Pork Sliders. This will be overseen by Chef Johnnie Lawton (Cal's Dad), Tony Livermore (Oak's Dad) and Jerry Chiappisi (Oak's Grandpa). A pig roasted on a spit can take several days to cook so we need folks to man the spit over the weekend with our dads.
If you have a baked good you love to bake or a favorite from a store we ask the you make or buy it and bring it to the wedding. We really wanted to have a potluck aspect of our wedding so the dessert table will be filled with delicious desserts created by our loved ones (and a small wedding cake that we have hired some to make)
Photos
We are hiring a photographer for the day of but she is a one person operation and will not be able to cover every moment of the day/weekend. If you have a DSLR or film camera please bring it and take photos of people enjoying themselves, dancing, the food, cute babies, pretty flowers, and any other sweet moments you see. You don't need to have the camera at all times during the wedding, we still want you to have fun, but know that you all will capture what will become some of our most beloved memories.
Set Up
Setting up tables, chairs, photo booths, siting areas, lawn games, camping areas and all signage will be an on going job all weekend. at some point you will probably be asked to do some of these tasks.
Reception and users
We'll need a few of you who feel comfortable to act as the cruise directors of the weekend. You'll need to guide people from the ceremony area to the reception area, help make sure people get in line for food, and other simple tasks like that. We'll also need one of you who likes to be up in front of people to be a sort of MC for the night. There are a few moments in the reception that need an announcer, like when we enter the reception for the first time as a married couple, the cake cut, and possible disco dance party time.
